What is GeoNode

image

GeoNode is a geospatial content management system and a platform for managing and publishing geospatial data. It brings together mature and stable open-source software projects under a consistent, easy-to-use interface that allows non-specialized users to share data and create interactive maps.

Data management tools built into GeoNode allow for the integrated creation of data, metadata, and map visualizations. Each dataset in the system can be shared publicly or restricted only to allow access to specific users. Social features like user profiles, commenting, and rating systems allow for the development of communities around each platform to facilitate the use, management, and quality control of the data contained in the GeoNode instance.

GeoNode is designed to be a flexible platform that software developers can manipulate, extend, modify and integrate into existing systems to meet the requirements of their specific applications or needs.
